Freelance / Hourly
Freelance work is generally short-term, from one to several days, with requirements and deliverables that are well defined before-hand. A Purchase Order for 10 to 40 hours, for example, along with clearly defined goals, may be required before work can begin. Invoices are expected to be paid within 1-7 days by company cheque, SWIFT bank transfer or Paypal, depending on the amount. Approved travel expenses (if any) will be added to the invoice. A full work day is generally 6.5-7 hours.
Freelance Rates
- Remote work: $85.00 / hour
- On-site work: $105.00 / hour
- Travel time: $55.00 / hour
- 24/7 availability (aka On-call): $100 / day
Contract
Contract work is generally longer-term, from 3 months to 1 year with days of 7.5 hours for example, and often with a broader description of the roles and responsibilities. The contract is expected to be fair and balanced for both parties and payment terms are to be taken seriously. If traveling is part of the mandate, the general conditions may be included in the contract. Approved travel expenses (if any) will be added to the invoice. Invoice terms are 30 days — longer terms may affect the hourly rate.

- Full-time on-site work: $95.00 / hour
- Travel time: Included (within reason)
- 24/7 availability (aka On-call): $100 / day
